A Linguistic Journey on Building a Parallel Corpus

This term we have looked at how to build a parallel corpus and on my Tepac project, I worked with Uğur Can İlhan. All the sources I used as referance on my project was based on science and technology and I was the one that used Phd theses that was written at the year of 2010. I got my hands on those theses since they all were published at tezyok.com as online. With Uğur Can, we created files that included pdf versions of those theses and added turkish and english summaries of all of them in order get a brief introduction on all of those theses. We had to make those summaries UTF8 to make them machine readable. Later on we sumed all those files up with a program named UAM CorpusTool3 and created jpg files that was summary of all of them and that was the end. It could be considered as a hard poject but not as a challenging one.
